It is part of a 51 year cooperative venture of American Rabbis.
What is The American Rabbi?
The American Rabbi is a homiletic website for Rabbis, Cantors, Spiritual Leaders, and clergy of other faiths.
The site is a massive collection of ideas from which clergy can develop sermons, drashot and other presentations.
The site includes large sections for all Holidays, Parshyot, Lifecycle Events, Eulogies, Stories & Anecdotes and Presentation Techniques.
The American Rabbi began as a Journal 51 years ago, founded by Rabbi Harry Essrig z"l. It has been produced by his "student" David Epstein for the past 18 years.
The website began in 2000 and has been growing yearly as more and more rabbis send their best creations to The American Rabbi.
The American Rabbi is Unique!
The focus of the site is not the sermons, but our method of gathering ideas. Ideas are what most Rabbis need in guiding their congregations week after week.
Our system is called Get-to-the-Point Technology.
How it works.
Each section - Holiday, Drashot, etc begins with an idea list.
First comes the Rabbi's name and the name of his/her presentation.
Then the 2-3-4-5 main points or ideas are listed.
The process is repeated with the next piece.
The idea section may be all you need to start your own piece.
If you wish to see how the writer developed the idea, just click on the idea and you will be taken directly to that idea within the sermon.
Rabbis have exchanged ideas for 2,000 years. The American Rabbi continues this great tradition.
If printed out, the Web-site would produce about 6,000 pages of homiletics - and it grows each week.
